Iceland Express is a low-cost airline that connects the Icelandic capital of Reykjavík with 18 airports in Scandinavia, England, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Spain, Italy and Poland. From summer 2010 the airline will run flights in the transatlantic Reykjavik – New York route.

From February 2003, the airline has helped make Iceland more accessible as a tourist destination by introducing fares up to 80% cheaper than the competition.

With Iceland often featured in the top 10 of the world’s must-visit destinations, there is a clear demand for flights. According to the Icelandic Tourism Board, tourism to Iceland has risen by over 150% since 2003, due in no small part to Iceland Express.

Iceland Express’ strategy is similar to those of other low-fare airlines. There are no length-of-stay restrictions, no Sunday rule, and it’s easy to book or change bookings online. This airline only offers e-tickets and all flights are essentially one-way.

Iceland Express has been growing steadily since 2003, and now connects the Icelandic capital of Reykjavík to airports throughout Europe. It also has seasonal direct flights between Copenhagen and Akureyri in Northern Iceland.
