As the British Airways flight from Miami to London Heathrow was cruising over the Atlantic Ocean at 35,000 feet, a recorded message went off telling passengers: “This is an emergency announcement. We may shortly need to make an emergency landing on water.”

Brussels Airlines announced they will be renewing their long haul cabin on flights between Brussels and New York as from June 2012.

Avro, UK’s leading charter flight-only company, announced it will be start new summer flights from the UK to Sanford, Florida. Flights will be operated by Monarch Airlines.
Flights from Newcastle to Sanford will run between 29 May and 28 August 2012, with departures every Tuesday and prices start at £559 return, including taxes.
Flights from Cardiff to Sanford will run between 28 May and 27 August 2012, with departures every Monday and prices start at £539 return, including taxes.
Starting 1st August 2012, Lufthansa will introduce the Airbus A380 on flights from Houston to Frankfurt.
The A380 will replace Boeing 747-400 and is scheduled to operate until 27th October 2012.

From 7th June 2012, SWISS will be increasing the frequency of flights from Zurich to Chicago from daily to 11 weekly.
The new flight is operated by Airbus A330-300 aircraft.

Tomorrow morning Jet2 will be celebrating the departure of the first New York shopping flights from East Midlands and Glasgow Airports.
Flights from Glasgow to New York Newark are already fully booked! There are still some places left on flights from East Midlands to New York Newark, starting from £280 return, including tax.

German airline airberlin will be introducing new direct flights from Berlin to Los Angeles with the start of its Summer schedule in May 2012.
At the moment, the flights are operating via Dusseldorf. From May next year airberlin will be the only airline operating directly between Berlin and Los Angeles.
Klaus Wowereit, the Mayor of Berlin, commented: “The commencement of flights from Berlin to our twin city of Los Angeles fulfills something we have all dreamt of for a long time: at last we can travel non-stop from Berlin to the west coast. This is a positive signal for the future development of the new Willy Brandt Airport as a gate of Berlin to the whole world.”
Tickets are on sale already and one way fares start at 349.99 euros, including all taxes and charges.
Also in May 2012, airberlin will be increasing the number of flights from Berlin to New York from four times per week to daily.
Emirates will introduce new direct flights from United Arab Emirates to Dallas-Fort Worth and Seattle-Tacoma International Airports from next year.
Flights from Dubai to Dallas Fort Worth will commence on 2nd February 2012. They will leave Dubai daily at 02:45, arriving at Dallas-Fort Worth at 0905hrs. The return flight leaves Dallas at 11:50, arriving at Dubai International Airport at 12:20 the following day.
Flights from Dubai to Seattle will follow a month later, on 1st March 2012, leaving Dubai daily at 09:50 and arriving at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport at 13:10. On the way back, the flight will depart Seattle at 17:10, arriving in Dubai at 19:40 the following day.
Both services will be operated by Boeing 777 aircraft.

From next summer, Lufthansa will be introducing its first route between Munich and Central America.
Flights from Munich to Mexico City will commence on 26 March 2012, five times a week, supplementing the existing daily flights from Frankfurt to Mexico City.
The route will be operated by Airbus A340-600.
Thomas Klühr, Lufthansa German Airlines Board member, comments: “we are delighted to be able to offer a connection from our Munich hub to Central America. In economic terms, in particular, Mexico is gaining in importance for the Bavarian market.”
Lufthansa describes Mexico City as the political, business, social and cultural capital of the country, as well as a “fascinating tourist destination”, due to numerous museums and monuments. With a population of 30 million, Mexico City is one of world’s largest metropolitan areas and Mexico’s largest transport hub.
