400 transatlantic passengers stranded by snow

“Almost 400 transatlantic airline passengers bound for London were yesterday stranded overnight in Ireland because of the snow,” reports British newspaper Metro.

British Airways flight from Atlanta to London Heathrow and the flight from Dallas to London Heathrow had to be redirected to Shannon airport in Ireland, as London was covered in snow.

The Telegraph commented on the snow chaos at Heathrow: “The first serious snowfall of the winter saw 41 per cent of flights cancelled.”

Mid-Atlantic panic when British Airways mistakingly tells passengers they are about to crash

As the British Airways flight from Miami to London Heathrow was cruising over the Atlantic Ocean at 35,000 feet, a recorded message went off telling passengers: “This is an emergency announcement. We may shortly need to make an emergency landing on water.”

Avro adds flights from Newcastle and Cardiff to Sanford, FL

Avro, UK’s leading charter flight-only company, announced it will be start new summer flights from the UK to Sanford, Florida. Flights will be operated by Monarch Airlines.

Flights from Newcastle to Sanford will run between 29 May and 28 August 2012, with departures every Tuesday and prices start at £559 return, including taxes.

Flights from Cardiff to Sanford will run between 28 May and 27 August 2012, with departures every Monday and prices start at £539 return, including taxes.

Lufthansa to introduce A380 on flights to Houston

Starting 1st August 2012, Lufthansa will introduce the Airbus A380 on flights from Houston to Frankfurt.

The A380 will replace Boeing 747-400 and is scheduled to operate until 27th October 2012.

SWISS is increasing frequency of Zurich – Chicago flights

From 7th June 2012, SWISS will be increasing the frequency of flights from Zurich to Chicago from daily to 11 weekly.

Tomorrow morning Jet2 will be celebrating the departure of the first New York shopping flights from East Midlands and Glasgow Airports.

New flights between Berlin and Los Angeles in May 2012 with airberlin

German airline airberlin will be introducing new direct flights from Berlin to Los Angeles with the start of its Summer schedule in May 2012.

At the moment, the flights are operating via Dusseldorf. From May next year airberlin will be the only airline operating directly between Berlin and Los Angeles.

Klaus Wowereit, the Mayor of Berlin, commented: “The commencement of flights from Berlin to our twin city of Los Angeles fulfills something we have all dreamt of for a long time: at last we can travel non-stop from Berlin to the west coast. Tickets are on sale already and one way fares start at 349.99 euros, including all taxes and charges.
