British Airways leaves passengers stranded over Christmas and New Year
December 14th, 2009 | by Administrator |British Airways staff have voted overwhelmingly (92.5%) in favour of a 12 day strike during the Christmas and New Year period.
Ballot papers have been issued to to more than 12,000 British Airways cabin crew in November and thousands have decided to strike over recent changes to employment conditions, including job cuts and pay freeze.
The strike will start on 22 December and last until 2 January, severly disrupting travel over the busy Christmas and New Year period.
An official announcement by BA said:
“We are currently reworking our flight schedules for the strike period and aim to announce them as quickly as possible.
“Our intention is to inform affected customers directly if we have their e-mail address or by SMS text if we have their mobile phone number.”
