Singapore Airlines charges for exit row seats

November 4th, 2008 | by sergio |

Singapore Airlines customers will be able to get guaranteed exit row seats but they will have to pay US$50 per sector for the privilege.

This option is applied only for economy class bookings.

For example, customers going on a long—haul flight to San Francisco can end up paying US$100 more for a return flight.

Previously, exit row seats were only available on request, and subject to availability. Now, the new option offers a guarantee of assignment on a first—come—first—served basis.

However, not everyone will be eligible for such seats. Under mandatory safety requirements set by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, passengers who ask for exit row seats must meet certain requirements.
